The Culture Makes History At The Emmys

Last night the 2018 Emmy Awards went down in Hollywood and some history for The Culture was made as black actors and actresses swept the four guest actor categories. This is the first time in Emmy history this has happened and is a tremendous coup for The Culture.

The history makers are Tiffany Haddish for her Saturday Night Live guest hosting, Kat Williams for his guest role on Atlanta, Samira Wiley for her role in The Handmaids Tale, and Ron Cephas Jones for This Is Us. Other winners for the night included Regina King for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for Seven Seconds and Thandie Newton winning Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Westworld.

Only a couple of years removed from #OscarsSoWhite being a thing makes this historic achievement even more of a surprise and is evidence that our talent and stories could only be denied for so long. And with the major film awards season right around the corner, let’s see if The Culture can continue to rack up more gold.
