Kheris Rogers: From Being Bullied To Designer at Fashion Week

“You are never too young to chase your dreams.”

Wise words from Kheris Rogers, an extraordinary 11-year-old girl who took being bullied for her complexion and turning it into booming fashion line that’s been supported by Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and made her the youngest person ever to take their designs to the runways of New York Fashion Week.

After several incidents with students and teachers, Kheris’ older sister posted a pic of her and added the hashtag #FlexinInHerComplexion and before either of them knew it, the post went viral. And like any smart enterprising young person, she capitalized and her fashion line was born. She started with T-shirts emblazed with positive messages and once those started selling out she expanded to other types of clothing for tweens and kids that’s both styling and affordable.

“Always stand up for what you believe, no matter what age you are.”

And now Flexin’ In My Complexion is a brand on the rise and Kheris has become a role model for young girls of color everywhere while staying true to her self and repping The Culture to the fullest. #BlackGirlMagic
