The Read is a weekly pop culture podcast covering hip-hop and pop culture’s headline making stars. The show is based out of New York City and hosted by vlogger Kid Fury and internet personality Crissle West.
The Read was an early entrant into the black comedy podcast genre. It debuted back in March of 2013 and immediately, the show made an impact. Shade is thrown, roasting is mandatory, tea is spilled. No star is safe from hosts Kid Fury and Crissle (except Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and the twins). They’re sharp-tongued, quick-witted, funny, and a bit savage.
The show is broken down into 5 segments: Black Excellence where Kid Fury picks someone in the Black community to celebrate. One that has accomplished something that is worthy of high recognition. Hot Topics, Listener Letters as curated by Crissle. Crissle’s Couch, where Crissle shares some of the wisdom she has learned from her mental health therapist. And The Read where Kid Fury and Crissle go in on a person or topic. All the segments have a different theme but all end up with Kid Fury and Crissle comedically doing some sort of “reading”.
Fast, funny, and no-holds barred, The Read may be one of the OG podcast in the genre but it is also still one of the funniest and on-point. So if you’re looking to be entertained and enlightened as to all the current happenings in black pop culture, The Read is a terrific place to start.
We hope you enjoyed this article on The Read Podcast. Check out some of the other black podcast that have been on THE FEAT.
