Culture Classics – Rockwell x Somebody’s Watching Me

It’s Spooky SZN so all October we’ll be hitting you with nothing but #CultureClassics that have that spooky flare to them.

This week we’re featuring a track on everyone in The Culture’s Halloween party playlist “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell. The song was released on January 14, 1984 on Motown Records and became a major success reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The video plays on the song’s paranoia theme takin place in a haunted house-inspired theme, including imagery of floating heads, ravens, graveyards, and shower scenes referencing Psycho.

#FunFacts: Rockwell is the son of Mowtown Record’s legend founder Barry Gordy and the song features guest vocals by two of the Jacksons! Michael Jackson on the hook and Jermaine Jackson on background vocals. Both volunteered to hop on the record because of their emended love and admiration for Barry.
