the nod podcast

Today on The Feat. we are featuring one of the truly unique black podcast out right now, The Nod.

Coming straight outta Brooklyn, The Nod’s mission statement is to tell the stories of Black life that don’t get told anywhere else. Hosted by creators for The Culture and Howard grads Brittany Luse and Eric Eddings, the podcast really does delve deep into the black experience and covers a wide range of diverse topics.

Episodes include an explanation of how purple colored/flavored drinks became associated with black culture to an episode about Afrocentric education (which includes a woman joyfully reminiscing about starring in her school’s production of “The Wiz” as a kid), the story of writer Vann R. Newkirk II, who founded #duraghistoryweek and an episode dedicated to why Della Resse deserves her own biopic.

We celebrate the genius, the innovation, and the resilience that is so particular to being Black — in America, and around the world

Luse and Eddings have been podcasting together for several years now beginning their podcast career making their independent podcast For Colored Nerds, and that experience and camaraderie shines through in their current work. Their banter is funny yet insightful as each show maintains a spirit of seriousness and playfulness that feels at once intelligent, interesting, and important to The Culture.
